Optimal Finish Taping is a drywall finishing business serving Kitchener, Ontario and beyond. With over a decade of experience, we bring the same standard of care to every project — production residential builds, custom estate homes, and commercial spaces.

How We Work

The standard

Every project receives the same level of care — from the first coat to the last, from the main floor to the garage. The scope changes. The standard does not.

Honest Pricing
Piece work, hourly, or day rate — whichever is fair for the scope. Labour and materials are invoiced separately. Materials are purchased by OFT and passed through at cost. No markup. Ever.

Consistent Quality
The garage gets the same attention as the great room. The last unit on a production build gets the same care as the first. The work does not vary.

Clear Communication
Estimates provided at no cost. Honest timelines. Direct updates. If something changes, you will hear from us — not after the fact.

Complex Work Welcome
Coffered vaults. Radial ceilings. High-ceiling estate homes. Fire taping. The jobs that require more — those are where OFT is at its best.
On materials: OFT purchases materials directly and invoices them at purchase price. Labour and materials are always listed as separate line items. No markup under any circumstances. A deposit is required before work begins.

Learning
the trade.

We are looking to take on another apprentice. No experience required. What matters is attention to detail you can hold for a full day rather than for an hour, perseverance when something is not working, and owning what you deliver rather than looking for someone to blame. Few people can sustain the first, and it is usually what decides it. You will need your own vehicle from the start.

The day is constant — a nonstop environment, constantly solving problems. You follow instruction while you are learning; as you get good, the work becomes yours to run, and the only boss over your shoulder is your own eye for what is right. It is a good atmosphere, and you are part of a crew.

At the end of a day you have learned something and physically done something, and you can see what you accomplished in the quality of the work. Tackling something difficult all day has a way of making the rest of life's challenges feel easier.

What you are building is a trade you own for life.
